Sheds, gazebos, garages, or playhouses can be delivered either completely assembled or assembled on site. The access to the desired location on your property will determine which is best for you. Any structure that is wider than 14 feet or higher than 11 feet will also require on site assembly because of transportation restrictions. Keep in mind that there is an additional charge for on site assembly.

Any building that is completely assembled is delivered to your property with a truck and trailer. If we have access to the desired location on your property with the truck and trailer, we will drop the structure off the back of the trailer onto your prepared site. If access is not sufficient for a truck and trailer, we can use the ”Mule” to transport the building from the street into your backyard.

To access the desired location with the ”Mule” we will need a path at least 24 inches wider than the width of the structure and at least 12 feet high. We cannot lift buildings over fences or other objects. Low branches on trees should be trimmed back to prevent any damage. Curbs or slight grades are okay if they are not excessive. We cannot transport buildings through areas that are extremely wet or muddy.

If we cannot access the desired location with the structure completely assembled, we will be able to construct the building on site. We will need a path at least 30/36 inches wide to transport the materials and tools to the location. The on site assembly of smaller buildings is usually completed in one day.

Site Preparation for Sheds and Gazebos

The foundation of your new shed is very important. A level and solid foundation will insure that your doors open and close properly, provide a greater weight capacity, and increase the longevity of your new shed.

The most common and recommended foundation for sheds is a gravel pad. A gravel pad provides the necessary support to prevent sagging and warping over time and also provides proper water drainage. We can provide contact information for contractors who install gravel pads or if you choose to do the installation yourself, read the tips below to insure the pad is installed properly.

Concrete pads are okay but not necessary if your building has a wood floor. Concrete pads are usually more expensive than gravel pads with very little added benefit. However for garages or sheds used for heavy equipment concrete pads are great if the wood floor is eliminated and the concrete pad is used as the actual floor to the building. Keep in mind a building placed on a concrete foundation without the wood floor must be built on site.

For sheds over 400 square feet or with a 2nd floor, most counties require a frost footer at least 30/36 inches below grade. This can be concrete piers, concrete pads with turned down edges, poured concrete walls, or cement block walls. Check with your local permitting office to determine what is required in your area.

Using cement blocks to level sheds is not recommended but is an option for smaller sheds. We strongly discourage using blocks for sheds larger than 150 square feet or if the grade difference from the highest point to the lowest point is more than 12 inches. There is no structural warranty for sheds using cement blocks if the shed is larger than 150 square feet or if the grade difference is more than 12 inches. The charge for blocking will depend on the size and on the grade difference.

All counties or cities require permits for sheds over a certain size. If required we can provide you with building drawings to submit with the permit application. Check with your local permitting office with any questions on permits or setback requirements.
